We know how important it is to you to develop, inspire and retain your future leaders. And to have well-rounded, more confident employees, who have a broad worldview. You want to encourage your high potentials to be more comfortable in ambiguous situations, have courage in their convictions, less fear of failure and a better appreciation of diversity.
Traditional leadership training programmes focus mainly on management theory, but few provide experiential learning opportunities that significantly open the minds of your leaders and have them fall in love with not only the project they are working on, but also the skills they have.
It is proven that leadership trainees will only successfully integrate the learning into their day-to-day jobs when the work and outcome is meaningful to them.
TIE’s experiential learning programmes provide an opportunity for your future leaders to gain a greater understanding of their purpose, and what drives them in their work. They then develop an ability to harness that purpose to be more impactful when leading teams.
The leaders who will be the most successful are those who will cross and connect cultures and understand multiple worlds.
TIE helps your future leaders develop the necessary cultural intelligence competencies needed to network better, to gain trust from people who are unlike them, to be able to cross demographics, to be able to spark innovation, and to be able to see a wider context when looking at a challenge or running a project.
You’re looking for ways to apply your company’s unique skills to make a positive, meaningful and sustainable difference to the lives of others around the world.
We believe in the power of the commercial world, which is why we have created these tailored training programmes for you. TIE develops the leaders of tomorrow, helps shape the future of the private sector and provides people and companies with an opportunity to feel proud of their profession and the skills they have worked so hard to develop.
Our virtual and immersive placements are a safe forum to push your future leaders beyond their perceived limitations where your business or your client’s business isn’t at stake.
TIE participants learn self-sufficiency, an ability to manage ambiguity in projects and be directly responsible for the outcomes. And they develop greater self-knowledge, a better understanding of their purpose and what drives them in their work – a pre-requisite to conscious leadership. The result is extraordinarily empowering and injects them with a newfound confidence and belief in their leadership abilities.
But it doesn’t stop there. TIE provides you and your top talent with that unique opportunity to make their mark on the world. And to make a real difference; one where you know you have fundamentally changed someone’s life.
Our skills are some of the most powerful on the planet, and our TIE projects prove that we can not only make a difference, but also develop our leaders at the same time.
Get in touch to create top performers whilst being a driving force for change. Let’s take things to the next level.
“Wieden+Kennedy London has been working with TIE for several years now. We have found it to be a transformational experience for those who participate, who come back enthused and energised. Our TIE participants find that they can achieve more than they thought possible, in a totally unfamiliar environment and culture. And the learning and positivity they bring back when they return to their work in London is an inspiration to the whole agency. It’s a great thing to be part of.”
NEIL CHRISTIE CEO, Wieden+Kennedy
“At Octopus, we think that to learn and grow as a person, you need to take chances and do new stuff. We love how TIE works because they attract caring people who have valuable skills and are willing to be thrown into the deep end. Then they match those people with projects where they can make a big difference. That’s how TIE gets such fantastic results.”
SIMON ROGERSON Co- Founder and CEO, Octopus Group

We take leaders from a number of different industries, companies and disciplines. They can work in advertising, marketing, financial services, law, publishing, events, PR, creative services, design, planning, branding, digital, production….and the list goes on. If they work in a company, and have the desire to move ahead in their role and at your business, use their skills in a completely new way, want to learn new insights and ways of working in a real-time business environment, want to make a difference with their skills and change the world in some way, then you should definitely consider them for TIE. The important thing to note is that the company must sponsor the individual and weave it in as part of their professional development. If you’re not currently a client of TIE’s, please get in touch, and we can explain further about how you can get involved.
The CEO/Head of Talent/HR Director/Brand Manager/department head may pick out their rising stars and put them on a TIE programme so that they can develop their talent in ways that regular training courses just wouldn’t do in the same way. Or, other companies offer TIE up as a competition. Various people apply, and the company will then offer one of the experiential leadership development opportunities to a handful of people per year. If a professional wants to get involved without being sponsored by their company, they will probably want to look into the TIE Accelerator programme.
TIE has three programmes on offer for companies: our Immersive TIE in-country experience and our Virtual Individual TIE Advisor and Virtual Team TIE experiences. Immersive TIE is a hands-on tailored programme that runs in total from about six to twelve months, depending on when the participant goes abroad. The participant is only out of the office during the intensive 30-day placement based in another country whilst they are working on their social project. They can fit the rest of the programme around their day jobs. Our TIE Advisor experience runs for three months, and the individual will work directly with the Director of a social initiative in a developing country for a couple of hours a week. Our Team TIE experience runs for 6 weeks, and a group of 6 people will work together to crack a specific objective, dedicating a couple of hours a day, also working the programme around their day-jobs.
We have projects in South America, Africa, and Asia, and we’ll match the participants to a project that best fits their personal, professional and company objectives, ensuring a unique, tailored, mind blowing, and life altering experience every step of the way.
All programmes include bespoke International Development TIE Training and live briefing sessions to prepare your future leader; coaching sessions to give them the time and space needed to think clearly and objectively about how they can harness the TIE experience to become an empowering milestone that propels them forward in their career journey; a custom brief which will help steer the work over the course of the programme; a hands on, tailored approach that will ensure they are supported every step of the way; and 360 evaluations. In the case of the TIE Immersive programme, you can also expect accommodation, logistical support, and pre-departure preparation to ensure success.
The program is raw, will push your top talent to the limit, and inject them with a powerful energy. TIE placements are a catalyst to something extraordinary.
Preparation is key and in order to ensure the individuals develop in the best possible way, and you get the biggest return on your investment, we highly recommend that they prepare properly for the placement. We will work with them to ensure that they are clear on what exactly they want to achieve, what they hope to get out of the experience, what they hope to deliver, and what they hope to bring back to your industry and company. In order to realise the true impact of TIE, we have learned that companies need to embrace the experience from beginning to end, and have TIE working as a strategic element within the company, linking it with their HR and Talent departments. People come back inspired and it’s important to harness that energy and enthusiasm and help channel it to ensure you get the most out of the investment.
TIE is not for individuals looking to simply volunteer or take some time out from their day job. TIE is not a holiday. And not built for the masses. TIE is a tailored leadership development opportunity, that will push your future leaders in a unique way, provide them with an opportunity to use their skills to make a difference, and give them the skills necessary to thrive in your company.
