Founded in 2009 by a group of enthusiastic volunteers, the Giraffe Conservation Foundation is the only NGO in the world that concentrates solely on the conservation and management of giraffe in the wild throughout Africa. Limited conservation research has been undertaken on giraffe throughout Africa and their numbers have plummeted by almost 40% over the past three decades.
Dedicated to a sustainable future for these threatened animals, GCF is established as a Namibian non-government-organisation, with the objective to raise awareness for, provide support to and secure a future for giraffe, and conserve their habitat in Africa.
Chris Kelsch from Wieden+Kennedy New York spent a month in Namibia working with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, helping to cement their visual identity, expand their outreach and reinforce the importance of having strong values and a clear identity.
Chris left the organisation with a great deal of collateral that they can use both internally and externally, when pitching their conversation project to potential donors and sponsors. You can read more about his project here.
Wieden+Kennedy London sent Xueling Wang on TIE in 2020 to work with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, to help them create a communications campaign that will raise awareness of World Giraffe Day, an event that promotes the conservation of giraffes in zoos and schools throughout the world. Stay tuned for updates!
