Most people can only dream to have a passport like Janice’s. UK, Éire, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Namibia, Pakistan, China and India – just to get started. She has almost 20 years of training and facilitation experience in these countries – which suits her job at TIE as a Development Trainer and Leadership Coach perfectly. Janice had always had a thirst for experiencing new cultures. At the age of 19, she packed her bag and went to Khartoum, in the Sudan. From that moment on, she hardly ever stopped with independent trips. She developed a need to combine her cultural interests and her professional expertise, so when the opportunity to volunteer through VSO and support museum development across Namibia came up, she didn’t hesitate for a second. Her three years of pioneering development work in Namibia – when the country had just become independent and still struggling with the consequences of apartheid – changed her for life. Development work had become Janice’s passion. After returning to the UK, Janice worked for another 10 years in the development sector, helping organizations such as READ International, Skill Share, and Comic Relief. During this time, she trained over 1,700 VSO volunteers for their international placements, including members of the UK and Irish governments. But there’s more. Janice also has mentored CEO’s of community-based organizations, coached senior leaders in the private sector, establishing an educational charity, founded a successful training company and facilitated learning events for major UK political parties. Janice now focuses on dialogue in the workplace, working across private and public sectors as a facilitator, trainer, mentor, coach and mediator. She has a passion for supporting individuals to grow in confidence, improve communication skills and maximise potential as a key element of workforce development, supporting their work with intercultural team working, strategic decision making and conflict resolution. In 2019 Janice was invited to be a delegate on the CSCLeaders programme. This is a global leadership programme for exceptional senior leaders selected each year from governments, businesses and NGOs across the 53 countries of the British Commonwealth. An incredible opportunity to work alongside over 70 delegates focusing on cultural intelligence and resilient cities. The programme took place in Manchester, London and Delhi, working across cultures, meeting inspirational leaders in community-based organisations through to senior leaders in the corporate sector. Co-creating ideas with colleagues from across diverse countries and cultures and presenting to specialist teams and to Princess Anne. As you can see, you are in good hands when you are with Janice. Her enthusiasm and passion for learning will captivate you as it did with us.
