Hello and welcome to The International Exchange – known to its friends as TIE.

TIE brings together the world of communications and the world of development in order to achieve social change.

In a nutshell, the idea is to find and select communications professionals (we call them CPs) who currently work in communications companies from developed countries and pair them up with suitable NGOs* in developing countries.

The NGOs* benefit from expert communications assistance. The CP benefits from using their skills in a unique and positive way – whilst at the same time experiencing life-changing personal development. And the communication company is able to develop its staff in an interesting, unique way.

I guess you could say we’re a kind of exchange programme - just rather different from the ones you used to go on when you were twelve. The difference is, with TIE you get an exchange of ideas, experiences and skills. An exchange of knowledge, culture, norms and values.

You get an exchange of reality.

We think it’s a win-win situation - everyone gets to share and develop their skills and make a difference whilst they’re at it.

Check out the video for an example of one of our placements. And, feel free to have a wander around our site where you’ll find more in-depth information about how it all works and how you can get involved.
